What to do if MitID isn't working?
If a client experiences issues logging in or signing with MitID, it is usually due to local browser settings or external service interruptions. Follow this guide to resolve the issue:
Check our system status
Experiencing issues? You can always check our live Status Page. Here, you can see if there are any service interruptions with us or our sub-processors.
How to fix it
Use Incognito Mode (Private browsing)
Outdated data (cache) or browser extensions can sometimes block the MitID window. Using a private window ensures a fresh session without old conflicts.
How to do it:
Chrome/Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + n (Mac: Cmd + Shift + n)
Safari: Select File > New Private Window.
Mobile (Safari/Chrome): Tap the tabs icon and select Private or Incognito.
Check for Pop-up Blockers
MitID often opens in a new window (pop-up). If the client’s browser is set to block these, the MitID login box will not appear.
Solution: Ensure that pop-ups are allowed in the browser settings or try a different browser (e.g., switch from Safari to Chrome).
Personal or Business MitID?
Some flows require a personal MitID, while others require MitID Erhverv (Business).
Solution: Ask the client to verify they are using the correct identity. If they are signing on behalf of a company, ensure they are using their business login.
Wait and retry
If MitID is experiencing general outages (which you can verify on our Status Page), the best solution is often to wait 10-15 minutes and try again.
